One over-all coating, to change colors, will be too thick to stay on uniformly. It will make the base material stiff and more uncomfortable, because it is no longer breathable. It will eventually scratch and flake off and look like shit. If it was a field expedient where you had no choice, that's one thing.

I've used the #99 Trijicon Dark Earth Brown from DuraCoat with their flattening agent on some of my mags for the SCARs. Factory mag from FN and a CProducts mag I sprayed.
